Past Concerts

The Rose of Virtue

August 16, 2013
The Gentlemen of Capella Antiqua perform an all men's concert for the first time, in honor of the Feast of the Assumption Mary. The concert will include selections spanning over 7 centuries and music written for both liturgical use and personal devotion. Among the countries of origin are Spain, England, Italy, Germany, France and Russia.

Composers include both the well known, including Dunstable, Morales, and Josquin, and the more obscure, names like Sumaya, Lemmens, and Chesnekov. These works will serve as a cultural, spiritual, and musical tour of the rich tradition that has developed throughout the past two millenia in honor of the Blessed Virgin.
